To explain how changes in habitats are harming frogs.
Let's practise
Frogs have been disappearing at an alarming rate in recent decades. Habitat destruction is the main cause of decrease in lowland areas, and climate change is the main cause of extinction in mountainous regions.
Frogs are under serious threat from global warming. As the clouds rise, the frogs at the newly exposed lower levels lose their habitat as the soil dries, and their eggs can dry up and die. Some frog species live only on a single mountain range, or even on a single mountain, so when problems arise the entire species can easily become extinct.

- Read the question. Read it again. What is it asking?
- Read the text slowly to look for evidence of habitat change.
The text mentions habitat destruction due to climate change from global warming. The soil dries up when the clouds rise.
- How does this affect the lives of frogs?
They can't live in dry soil.
- What happens as a result of this?
Frog species lose their habitat.
- Answer the question.
