George opened his eyes and sat upright in bed. He ruffled his curly hair and in his confused state tried to make sense of the layout of his room. After a stifled yawn, it dawned on him that today was the day. The clock told him he was late. They were due to leave in fifteen minutes. George had been promised a new puppy and he was going to choose it with his dad that morning. He couldn't wait! With athletic grace, he leaped out of bed, flung back the curtains and skipped over to a pile of crumpled clothes. He couldn't get them on quick enough! As he put one leg in his trousers, George toppled over onto the bed. He struggled to put his other leg in as he tried at the same time to put on his shirt. Falling off the bed, George rolled on the floor and looked under the bed for his shoes. 'Come on, get a move on,' he said to himself.
