Top tips

  • Ask yourself, 'What did I think about that?', 'What information did I use to think that?' and find clues in the text to support your thinking. You may need to change your original thoughts if the clues to support them aren't there in the text.

  • You should answer with as much detail as possible as there may be more marks for more than one answer.

  • Use logic. Find examples that describe what is happening, where, when and how.

  • Use your own knowledge and experience if possible, but make sure the text supports your answer.

  • In question responses, you may need to refer to several pieces of evidence to show how they contribute to the overall meaning.
