What you need to know
To achieve 100 you need to recognise the simple present and simple past tenses and be able to construct these verb forms.
- The simple past tense tells us when something has happened.
- The simple present tense tells us when something is happening, e.g. I am 12 years old, or that it happens regularly, e.g. I go to school every day.
- Verbs change tenses to show these differences in time.
- Most verbs have similar spellings (e.g. watch, watched; stay, stayed; walk, walked) but there are also irregular verbs (e.g. go, went).
