You need to:
find, name and write the fractions half (½), quarter (¼), third (⅓), three-quarters (¾)
recognise that ½ is equal to 2/4.
- Fractions are equal parts of one whole.

¾ Three-quarters ¼ + ¼ + ¼ 
½ is equal to 2/4. 
- We can use equal sharing to find fractions of amounts:
¼ of 12 pence = 3 pence.
- We can see how much each quarter is worth and use this to find the value of more than one quarter:
¾ of 12 pence = 3 + 3 + 3 = 9.
